Important Notice to All Users

Due to abuse of file size uploads, we are currently auditing the files on the system. The abuse has led to a shortage of space available on the server for the site. All files over the original 300 KB limit will be permanently deleted after June 30, 2010. As needed we will identify content that will need to be done for a user who is no longer on the site and that merits preservation.

We are urging all users to be proactive and to go through their own uploads to ensure the following:

• All uploads adhere to our Terms of Use and follow the VirtueVerse Guidelines.
• All uploads are under 100 KB in size, preferably under 50 KB.
• That you have marked any and all unused images you have uploaded for deletion by adding Category: Deletion Request to the image page. Unused images will be deleted.

In order to see a list of the images you have uploaded:

1. Go to your profile. Click User Contributions on the left hand menu.
2. In the namespace drop down select Image. Then click Go

Suggestions for keeping your images small:

• Consider cropping them to only the section you need to display and scaling them to the size they will actually be displayed at before uploading. [Instructions on resizing your image for Photoshop, Gimp (Open Source Image Editor), Picasa, Windows Photo Manager & Paint]
• Unless you need a file to be transparent save as .JPG with as much compression as the image can stand before degrading. PNG should only be used if you need transparency.
• If you do not currently have photo editing software, utilize an online photo editors there are many currently available.
